Toyota is set to launch its first fully electric pickup, the Hilux EV, in Nepal by April 2026. This battery-electric Hilux (BEV) combines zero-emission driving with Toyota’s signature rugged body-on-frame design, making it ideal for urban fleets, construction work, and hilly terrain. The Hilux EV was first unveiled globally in Thailand on November 10, 2025, with its European debut at the Brussels Motor Show in January 2026.

The electric pickup comes with a 59.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, a WLTP-rated range of 240 km, and a dual-motor AWD system delivering 193 hp (144 kW) and 473 Nm (349 lb-ft) torque. Acceleration is 0–100 km/h in around 10 seconds, with a top speed of 140 km/h. Payload capacity is 715 kg, and braked towing capacity is 1,600 kg. Off-road features include Multi-Terrain Select and 700 mm wading depth, while ground clearance is 21 cm.

Charging supports fast DC up to 125 kW, allowing quick turnaround for commercial users. The Hilux EV is offered in Double Cab configuration, making it suitable for urban and semi-off-road use, though the 240 km range is ideal for short-to-medium trips.

Nepal Launch and Pricing

Toyota Nepal has not yet announced official pricing or trims for the Hilux EV. Based on European pricing, where the diesel Hilux costs around NPR 79.85 lakh ($55,100), the Hilux EV in Nepal is expected to be even more expensive. Only right-hand-drive units will be available, catering to Nepal, India, Thailand, and Australia markets.

The Hilux EV is positioned for businesses, fleet operators, and urban buyers seeking a zero-emission yet rugged pickup. With Nepal’s EV incentives and growing charging infrastructure, it’s a practical option for commercial use.
